I like Polaroid
cameras.
When you
take out your Polaroid friends or bystanders take interest in what you
are up to. They'll want to watch the milky fog lift of developing photographs
and see it give way to gradually solidifying shapes and colors. Using
a Polaroid camera sends an entirely different signal to the world than
using any other type of camera. Images are not captured in the depths
of some roll of film to be developed at a later time. They don't disappear
into a flash-ROM memory chip. Instead they instantly turn into artifacts.
A Polaroid
camera invites experimentation partially because it isn't nearly as intimidating
as other cameras. There's
only one button you need to worry about. The release.
